Your mindset will determine your destination. In this episode, you’ll discover how to develop a Heck Yes! Mindset so you’re primed for success and happiness.

Hey ShawnQ here and in this episode, I want to break down what it’s like to have a heck yes mindset every single day you wake up. Now, let me just break it down real quick. So a mindset is a belief that orients the way we view and handle situations.

So let me give you an example. If we have a poverty mindset, then we’re looking through the lens of limitation. If we have a growth mindset, we’re looking at the lens through the ability to learn and grow and do new things and take risks that there’s nothing that’s fixed about us because everything’s, everything can change. And so a mindset is a belief that orients the way we view and handle situations.

Essentially, they are the scripts in the roles of our lives that tell us how to react to everyday living. They show us what behaviors are appropriate and they indicate and determine how we should show up in our lives. So when I’m talking about a heck yes mindset, I want you to be able to have a perspective, a lens that you look through in the world and say, heck yes, I can do that, or heck yes, I have the ability, the resource, the capacity to get it done.

I fully believe that your mindset will determine your destination. I’m going to say that again because it’s just so good. Okay. Your mindset will determine your destination. So let’s go ahead and break down what the heck yes mindset is.

When you have a heck yes mindset, you can think in abundance, you can focus on problem solving. You become eager to discover new insights. You celebrate progress and you’ll learn from failure.

Now, a scarcity mindset forces you to live in fear that what gets lost can never be returned. In other words, if I give you money, I’m never going to make that money back. Or if I give you a piece of the pie, then that’s a less pie for me. Or if I don’t make money today, I’ll never make money.

Now an abundance mindset believes that there is always more of everything in life, including money, relationships, resources, and opportunities. It’s this idea that you can always get something, and it’s an understanding that just because you don’t get something right now, doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get it later. In other words, if I lose out on something today, it doesn’t mean I can’t make it up tomorrow.

So the first part of a heck yes, mindset is having an abundance perspective. Being able to look at the world and know that there’s so much opportunity out there and there’s enough for you, and there’s enough for me. There’s enough clients out there for you and for me.

And what this does is it allows us to eradicate the idea of competition. You see, I don’t ever consider anybody a competitor. I see them as a potential collaborator. That there are ways for both of us to serve the market. That there’s enough people out there for all of us to succeed and all of us to win.

So you want to make sure number one, if you’re taking notes, write this down, Abundance mindset. Number two, procedure versus problem solving. Now let me kind of break it down. So formulas are helpful, but you’re not a follower. You’re a trailblazer.

Now although success leaves clues those clues, don’t lead to the same destination for every single person. So instead of saying this process, didn’t work for me. What you’re going to instead say is this process didn’t work the way I tried it.

Let’s try another way and I’ll figure it out eventually. I oftentimes see this with a lot of people who actually invest in courses. They invest in a course and then they kind of give up responsibility and ownership of their own success.

“Oh, the coach is going to do all the work for me, The coach is going to point me in the right direction.” Although the coach is designed to support you in the process and give you every access to resources that you need in order to move forward, your business and your dreams and your life is yours alone.

Nobody’s going to care about it as much as you do. So you’ll have to show up for your business and your life 10 times more than anybody else is. because here’s the truth. It’s your business. It’s your results 10 years from now, nobody else is going to feel the regrets of no action.

Nobody else is going to also experience the joys of success of big moves. So you got to care about your business more than anybody else will. You got to go in not as a procedure follower, but as a problem solver. The third thing, if you’re taking notes, go and write this down is fixed versus growth mindset.

The fixed mindset believes the talented were always talented and those without talent are just out of luck. Whereas a growth mindset says, I may not have this skill right now, but I can develop it. And as a leader, your ability to develop new skills and discover new talents is key to you and your business’s growth.

So you want to make sure that you’re going into it, knowing that if you don’t have what you need to succeed, you can acquire it. You can develop it. You know, I heard somebody once say, once you learn how to learn, nothing becomes impossible… Once you learn how to learn, nothing becomes impossible.

Okay, number four, write this down, perfection versus progress. When you have a heck yes mindset, you don’t have a perfectionistic mindset. Now perfectionism is actually born out of a toxic relationship with failure.

We see the red marks from a schoolteacher and the stern talks of a parent who only focused on what we did wrong. Since we don’t want to disappoint others or ourselves, we pursue an impossible standard that holds us back from taking any action in the first place.

So instead, celebrate mistakes, learn from failures, recognize that failure. Isn’t a period… It’s a comma. Failure doesn’t mean you stop or you quit or you give up. It means I’ve learned a new way not to do it.

You know, here are a couple of affirmations that you can share with yourself. You can say it every single morning. And these are some of the things that I told myself as I was overcoming my own desire for perfection.

First thing was this, say this out loud… I’ve made a thousand mistakes and I’ll make a thousand more before I choose to quit. Tell yourself that every morning. Another one, with every mistake I make, I get closer and take a huge step toward my goal. Another one, I’m learning and it’s okay if I suck right now.

So make sure that you’re giving yourself permission to make mistakes. Say this out loud, there’s a joy in the journey. You are learning how to learn. You’re growing into the best version of yourself, and if you’re not there yet, that’s okay because you will get there.

Okay the fifth and final part of a heck yes. Mindset, go in and write this down is failure versus discovery. A failure mindset focuses on reducing errors and turns failure into frustration. Whereas a discovery mindset eagerly looks forward to failure and celebrates mistakes as a brand new discovery.

So I want you to recognize that there is an opportunity for you to fail and in that failure, there is a discovery. I heard this quote, once that said that, “Failure isn’t something to avoid. It’s the way you get there.”

So the five steps of having a heck yes, mindset is number one, having an abundance perspective. There’s enough room for everyone. Number two, be a problem solver. You don’t have to follow a formula because you’re going to figure it out and figure out the best way for you. Number three, recognize that even if you don’t know how to do something, you can grow into that skill, a growth perspective. Number four, progress over perfection that you’re going to celebrate every single move you make, even if it’s just 1% growth and number five, discover you’re going to go through failure, and you’re going to discover new ways to do things.

If you’re ready to live a heck yes, life good and make an internal commitment right now and simply say, yes, heck yes. That is the version of myself that I want to show up. That is how I want to shine and gloriously move all of the mountains in front of me. That is how I want to serve my clients, and that’s the type of person I want to become.

If you’re committed and you create that intention, you will show up as that version of yourself every single day. And I’ll leave you with this question. If you were to have a heck yes mindset every single morning, what would your life look like a year from now? I’m ShawnQ and I’ll see you in the next episode.
